Guided imagery and visualisation is a relaxation technique that focuses on creating harmony between your mind and your body in order to ease stress and enhance well-being. Many women use guided imagery during childbirth to help them feel relaxed, comfortable and able to handle labour and delivery.
Guided imagery and visualisation is a calming, natural and non-invasive way of aiding the following :
• Reducing stress, anxiety and tension during pregnancy and labour
• Decreasing pain and better pain management during labour
• Naturally lowering blood pressure
• Improve oxygenation throughout your body (and your baby’s body)
• Improving rest and sleep
I am a registered counsellor with the HPCSA and the BHF. I offer individual, one-on-one guided visualisation sessions to moms that are pregnant. Individual sessions can also be personalized to your specific needs and situation.
As a mom of 2 I used guided visualisation during both my pregnancies and labour. The process certainly helped me with all the above points and over all I believe helped me to enjoy and be more fully connected during the pregnancy as well as labour.
During our sessions I will do various guided visualisation and teach you how to use and safely practice the technique at home. This is a safe non invasive technique to help you de-stress both emotionally and physically. One you have learned the process you will easily be able to implement this to a future pregnancy as well as other areas of your life.
