Individual Counselling

Individual face to face counselling is offered to both children and adults. Both sessions for children and adults are individualized depending on the issue at hand, the extent of the issue as well taking into consideration that each person is unique.

Individual counselling

Your Therapy does individual, face to face and in some instances, telephonic and skype counselling for adults and adolescents at the practise in Lone Hill.

Sessions are individualised depending on the issue at hand, the extent of the issue as well as taking into consideration that each person is unique, and that different approaches and techniques may work differently from person to person.

Low self-esteem

Low self esteem, what people essentially believe are facts about themselves, are more opinions about themselves which can be based on a host of factors that have played a role in their lives. Extreme low self –esteem is detrimental to the daily life of a person and is often indicative of deeper issues which can be dealt with in individual counselling. Continuous low self-esteem problems can lead to or is often present with other problems such as eating disorders, depression and anxiety.

Low self-esteem may also be a problem in some cases of life change such as adolescence and retirement. Working on increasing self-esteem can have a positive and far reaching effect on many areas of one’s life.


Self awareness is about knowing yourself, what do you like, what don’t you like, where you are going in life, goals,  what are your values, what do you find acceptable in your life, how are you going to get to where you want to be in life and how you deal with relationships. When you are more self aware you are better equipped to make informed decisions and move forward in your life. When you are not as self aware you may get stuck, procrastinate or make poor decisions. A good self awareness also assists one in dealing with obstacles better.


Socialization is the individual’s ability to integrate into and become a contributing member of family, work and social circles. Often individuals struggle to socialize effectively in one or more of these areas and individual counselling is highly successful in dealing with more effective methods of socialization.

Dealing with conflict

Conflict can be found in all areas of an individual’s life and is often difficult to deal with. This includes the conflict itself as well as social and emotional after effects of the conflict. Individual counselling deals with these issues as well as the prevention of certain potential conflict situations.

Anxiety and worry

Anxiety and worry are commonplace in today’s society and are often overlooked but in some instances anxiety and worry have damaging effects on the individual’s family and work lives as well as the physiological effects that arise from excessive anxiety. Individual counselling deals with anxiety and offers life tools in dealing with the anxiety and the situations that cause excessive anxiety and worry.


At some point in our lives we all deal with physical, emotional and psychological trauma in various forms. This includes witnessing trauma or someone close to us experiencing a trauma. Individual counselling deals with all of these issues and helps the person overcome and cope with symptoms of trauma. Symptoms of trauma may include re-experiencing the event for example in flash backs, feeling numb, loss of concentration, certain places or sounds triggering you to feel like you are re-experiencing the event, feeling agitated or experiencing lack of sleep. If at any point you think you are suffering from any of these symptoms and they are negatively affecting your daily life it may be helpful to seek counselling.
